Watermelon for breakfast

The other day I cut up some watermelon and mixed it in with Skeletor's food.

Oh well, if it's cheap and good for him, he can have at it!

Other things I've added to get him to eat include:
Pecan meal, potato flakes, peanuts, peanut butter, olive oil, Parmesan cheese, tuna juice, lunch meat, chicken broth, leftover noodles, leftover rice, raisin bran crumbs I accidentally spilled on the counter, cooked liver, raw egg, cooked egg, and even wet dog food.

Ian tricked him into eating plain dry food by tossing a few pieces of kibble in the air for him to catch. He gradually tossed them closer and closer to the food dish and then into the dish...

Maybe one of these days I'll find the magic dry food that he just loves.

  2. I guess I'm mean, my dogs usually only get dry dog food and that's pretty much it. Once in awhile they'll get some human food as a treat but not very often.

  4. Our dogs loved watermelon too. They also loved canteloupe and carrots. But please, no raisins for the doggies :( They can be toxic to our 4-legged friends :((

  5. Thanks for the heads up, Maureen. I had heard that about raisins and grapes, but thought it was unsubstantiated. A quick search seems to state otherwise.

Fortunately I've only given him one raisin. Usually the raisin bran crumbs are all flakes.

I'm glad Skeletor's not the only dog who is anti-kibble :)

I think I'm going to create a page dedicated to things to mix in with kibble to trick picky eaters into dining.

  6. Well, we are cats, so we can't really suggest a good dog kibble, but we do understand the problems with having a picky eater - and imagine having 2 or three - yep, that makes it s party!
